IMG_6220-300x225How long should my roof last?

A typical roof should last 20-25 years, but the exact number depends on the type, style and material originally used for roof construction.

What should I do to prepare for my new roof installation?

You should do a walk-through with the contractor installing your new roof and have him explain the process. We recommend removing pictures from your walls and covering any valuables that you may have stored in your attic. Also don’t forget to move vehicles from your driveway, so that they are outside of the debris falling zone.

How do I know if I need a new roof?

If you see signs of water damage or multiple cracked, torn or missing shingles, it’s likely your roof has deteriorated to the point of needing replacement.

How much does a new roof cost?

This will depend on the type, stye and size of the roof. Feel free to contact us for a quote.

My roof leaks. Do I need to have it totally replaced?

Not necessarily. In many cases the roof can be repaired if overall it’s in a good shape. Your leak could be caused by damaged or deteriorated flashings, missing shingles or damage to your ridge vent from invasive wildlife or inclement weather. If this damage is not widespread or critical to the structure, repair is usually possible.

How often should I have my roof inspected?

The National Association of Home Builders advices to conduct roof inspections every 3 years. Once every 2-3 years in the spring or fall is what we recommend our customers.

Can I repair my roof myself?

It is possible, but we would advise against it unless you have prior experience. Performing DIY roof repairs is not only dangerous, but may also cause you to spend more money at the end if you don’t identify and fix the problem the first time.

What type of roof should I put on my home?

This depends on the house itself, the area you are located in and your budget. If you need help deciding between different roofing systems, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to share our expertise.

How long does it take to install a new roof?

A typical roof is normally installed within one day, but this depends on the size of the project and the type of material being used. For example, shingles on average take longer to put in place than EPDM rubber roofing.
